Breathwork

Breathwork

Breathwork describes different techniques that teach you to control your breathing rate and depth, by bringing awareness to your breath and providing the same benefits you might get from a meditative or a trance state.

Not only it is it the first thing we do when we come to life and the last thing we do when we leave our physical body, but it is also one the most ancient practices used for centuries.

It’s scientifically proven today that all benefits are real. And you can experience it in just a few minutes.

Breathwork can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, attention deficit disorder, asthma and allergies, and way more health issues.

How is this possible? Let’s start by describing Breathwork.

Some health benefits of breathwork:

Alkaline blood pH: Inhale oxygen exhale CO2. With faster breathing, we get rid of more CO2. CO2 is an acidic molecule, so hyperventilating helps shift to a higher, or more alkaline pH. Your body becomes antiviral and antibacterial.

Increases muscle tone: When the blood becomes more alkaline the calcium ions floating around in the blood go into hiding, binding onto large proteins called albumin. The body experiences a short-term low-calcium state which causes increased firing in sensory and motor neurons and manifests in the neurological system as tingling sensations, smooth muscle contractions and increased muscle tone.

Has an anti-inflammatory effect: Neurons in the autonomic nervous system also fire more during hyperventilation, releasing epinephrine (what many people call “adrenaline”) that causes the innate immune system to increase its anti-inflammatory activity.

Breathe less live longer: When you breathe with rhythm and do breathwork on a daily basis you also learn how to breath less and be more efficient in using your oxygen, that goes directly to your cells.
